Full steam ahead: TECO 2030 reports great progress at Norway’s first gigafactory

Following the initial unveiling last month (17th Feb), more plans have today (10th March) been confirmed for Norway’s first large-scale fuel cell production facility, located in Narvik.

The company behind this ground-breaking site is TECO 2030 ASA who have said, that once fully operational, the plant will be able to produce fuel cells with a capacity of more than one gigawatt per year, equivalent to several billion NOK annual turnover.

It’s with this magnificent turnover that TECO 2030 hopes to transform the maritime industry, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships. Further to that, the company hopes the site will play a key role in the Norwegian Government’s ambition to develop a complete value chain for the utilisation of hydrogen as an energy carrier.
