Frankfurt UAS developing smart hydrogen tank

Researchers at Frankfurt UAS are developing a smart hydrogen tank in a bid to simplify the production of hydrogen so it can be used in homes.

From October 2020, Dr. Enno Wagner, Professor of Mechatronic Design and Technical Mechanics at Frankfurt UAS, and his students will develop the device which would produce hydrogen by means of electrolysis in a small system that fits easily into a basement or garage.

It would be operated with renewable energy giving households the opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions.

Wagner and his team will firstly build a prototype and then they want to come up with a concrete use for the stored hydrogen. One possible use is a hydrogen-powered cargo bike.
