Fortescue’s hydrogen-powered truck arrives in Pilbara for testing

Fortescue’s hydrogen-powered haul truck prototype “Europa” has completed a 1,100km journey from Perth to Pilbara in Australia ahead of real-life trials.

Now in Pilbara, the Liebherr T 264 prototype will undergo complete site-based testing, including trials based on actual mining environments at Christmas Creek. This is expected to support the company’s future fleet of zero-emission haul trucks.

Following commissioning on site, the Europa will be refuelled with liquid hydrogen from a plant located at Fortescue’s Green Energy Hub at Christmas Creek.
