Ten hydrogen-powered coaches will replace the existing fleet of diesel coaches at Christmas Creek next year, as part of a $32m renewable hydrogen mobility project.
Custom built by hydrogen fuel cell vehicle company Hyzon Motors, the coaches will be supported by a refuelling station which will harness renewable electricity from the Chichester Solar Gas Hybrid Project to generator renewable hydrogen onsite.
Julie Shuttleworth, Deputy CEO at Fortescue, said, “This project represents a first step towards decarbonising our mobile fleet, which is an important part of our goal to achieve net zero operational emissions by 2040.”
