Hydrogen refuelling station developer FirstElement Fuel (FEF) has revealed its been awarded a $7.7m grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) to increase its manufacturing facility.
The company’s facility in Santa Ana, California, will have its technology output increased by more than 10 times, provide more local jobs and reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) by enabling a scale up in zero-emission transportation.
The facility currently produces high tech components and systems for hydrogen refuelling stations, including liquid hydrogen cryopump systems, and the company was awarded the grant through CEC’s Zero-Emission Transportation Manufacturing competitive grant solicitation. The upgrades will be partially funded by the CEC with FEF contributing at least $14m.
