First Graphene UK and Kainos Innovation are developed a unique process technology which converts low-cost hydrocarbon feedstocks to graphene materials and hydrogen gas.
The two companies today (5th Nov) secured a grant from Innovate UK, under the UK’s Sustainable Innovation fund, to develop the technology which produces green hydrogen.
In a statement, the project team estimated that from every tonne of petroleum feedstock, 940kg of graphene/graphitic carbon and 60 kg of green hydrogen gas is produced.
Craig McGuckin, Managing Director of First Graphene, said,“This new, innovative process provides our company with a foot in the door of both lithium-ion cathode materials and hydrogen production businesses.”
