FID secured for 1.3GW RFNBO-compliant green ammonia plant in India

A one million-tonne-per-year green ammonia plant in India has reached final investment decision (FID), with plans to export the hydrogen derivative to Europe from 2026.

Greenko and Gentari-backed AM Green Ammonia, today (August 27), said the project in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, will employ 1.3GW of John Cockerill alkaline electrolysers using “round-the-clock renewable energy.”

With plans to see the plant produce one million tonnes of ammonia by 2026, the developer intends to scale up the facility to boast capacity for five million tonnes by 2030.
