FertigHy has selected northern France to develop its first low carbon hydrogen and fertiliser plant.
Located in the Hauts-de-France region, the project will require €1.3bn ($1.4bn) CAPEX investment to ensure it begins operation by 2030, with construction kickstarting in 2027.
The production process will see renewable and low-carbon electricity used to produce hydrogen, which is anticipated to produce up to 500,000 tonnes of low carbon, nitrogen-based fertiliser per year – 10% of France’s agricultural sector’s consumption.
