Exolum has secured more than £500,000 to demonstrate the bulk transportation and storage of liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs).
The company will transport and store hydrogen through LOHCs in commercial-scale, repurposed oil pipeline and tank storage infrastructure, carrying around 20,000kg of hydrogen between the Immingham East and West facilities via a 1.5km pipeline.
The UK Government has provided £505,000 ($648,031) through Innovate UK to carry out the project at Exolum’s terminal in the Humber region, with laboratory testing set to take place to confirm that the LOHC quality is maintained.
