Hydrogen UK’s Chief Executive has told H2 View that if the UK does not pass an Energy Bill with an “appropriate funding mechanism” for hydrogen, “it’s game over for the UK’s place at the table.”
Clare Jackson warned that the UK hydrogen industry has an “existential concern” that the Hydrogen Business Model will be developed without any funding attached.
The UK Energy Bill was first proposed in July last year (2022) detailing a hydrogen levy to fund “all revenue support for low-carbon hydrogen production,” however over the past year has been held up in numerous parliamentary readings, which Jackson explained could leave the UK hydrogen industry out in the cold.
