EU’s Clean Industrial Deal misses the mark with hydrogen, says trade body

The EU’s Clean Industrial Deal (CID) over-prioritises electrification and fails to recognise hydrogen’s crucial role in grid flexibility and industrial decarbonisation, Hydrogen Europe warns.

Hydrogen Europe has highlighted that the CID lacks a sector-wide strategy while focusing too heavily on electrification rather than a balanced, integrated approach.

“Despite some clear positives, Hydrogen Europe and its membership are dismayed to see that, as it currently stands, the CID fails to adopt a truly sector-integrated approach for energy,” the organisation stated.
