EU funds Gaz-System’s Poland-Germany hydrogen cluster

Poland’s Gaz-System has been awarded EU funding to support the development of the Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project, designed to serve Poland and Germany.

Covering the West Pomeranian and Lubuskie Provinces in Poland, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg in Germany, the cross-border project is expected to advance renewable hydrogen production and supply to transmission networks in Poland and Germany.

Gaz-System will cooperate with PNE AG and its subsidiary Sevivon, and German transmission system operator (TSO) Gascade Gastransport to analyse the potential development of hydrogen infrastructure in north-west Poland and north-east Germany.

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environmental Executive Agency (CINEA) has provided financial support under the CEF cross-bord renewable energy instrument. Last July, the project was awarded €190,000 ($202,000) to conduct a feasibility study and assess the viability of a hydrogen network.
