Essar launches joint venture with Progressive Energy to create a hydrogen production hub with over 1GW in hydrogen capacity by 2026

A new joint venture has been launched today (Jan 26) between Essar and Progressive Energy that will aim to unlock £1bn ($1.35bn) total investment in order to deliver a hydrogen production hub with over 1GW capacity.

In establishing this new joint venture, dubbed Vertex Hydrogen, a proposed hydrogen production plant that could generate over 1GW of hydrogen from 2026 will be developed in the UK.
