ETH Lausanne (EPFL), along with spin-off GRZ Technologies, has developed a hydrogen compressor which will help to develop small hydrogen filling stations.
Featuring a metal hydride to store the hydrogen, which went heated releases gas again, the technology releases hydrogen with a pressure of up to several hundred bars.
EPFL chose to use the metal hybrid to compress and liquify the hydrogen gas, which allows it to be used as a fuel for hydrogen vehicles.
The two companies have been working with the Messer Group on the commercial implementation of the technology.
