Environmental Audit Committee investigates hydrogen

The Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) has launched a session that will explore hydrogen production, distribution and potential application across the UK.

Following the Government’s £160m investment for hydrogen projects, the EAC will consider the opportunities to maximise continued development and effectiveness, as well as the challenges faced by industry in delivering greater hydrogen capacity.

“As we near out commitment of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, we must consider all options to generate energy that does not harm the environment,” said Philip Dunne MP, Chairman of the Environmental Audit Committee.

“Hydrogen could form part of the solution – but it must be produced, stored and used in ways that do not create harmful emissions and maintain the highest safety standards.”
