EnBW Group is increasing the total capacity of its hydrogen production plant in Grenzach-Wyhlen, Germany, to six megawatts.
The electric utilities company has been converting renewable electricity into green hydrogen at the site since 2019, and now with a grant of €13.5m from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, can expand the project’s potential.
Family-run industrial gas company Messer is also involved in the project, along with EnergieDienst, the Baden-Württemberg Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research, and Dialogik.
Messer already holds significant experience in the hydrogen industry with its operation of hydrogen filling stations for fleets of buses, fork-lift trucks and other industrial vehicles.
