Elemental Energy has launched a new lightweight hydrogen tube trailer for the UK, European and Southern African markets, aimed at supporting applications in hard-to-reach areas.
Hoped to bridge the gap between smaller cylinder bundles and larger tube trailers, the system, with capacity to carry 99kg of hydrogen at up to 380 bar, can be towed by any vehicle with towing capacity of three tonnes – including most pickup trucks.
Integrating Hexagon Purus’ Type-4 cylinders and Elemental’s trailer platform, the trailer system features purpose-built regulation and control systems.
Available for order with high- and low-pressure regulated hydrogen outlets, the UK engineering firm says the solution will be suitable for vehicle refuelling as well as stationary power applications.
Furthermore, the Elemental system includes a control, logging and monitoring system for real-time monitoring of hydrogen levels, logging all fills and discharges.
“We started out building distributed, small to medium sized hydrogen projects and this trailer was a necessary solution to overcome challenges in hard-to-reach areas of the world.
“The early interest in the trailer from established industry players demonstrated that there is a role it can play in supporting the growth of the hydrogen economy and we are proud to launch it as an official product of the Elemental Energy portfolio,” said Michael Patterson, Elemental Energy CEO.
It comes after Elemental said it would distribute Hexagon Purus’ Type 4 cylinders, multi-element gas containers (MEGCs) and distribution products throughout southern and east Africa.
