Element 2’s public UK hydrogen refuelling stations receive planning permission

Element 2 has received planning approvals for two permanent hydrogen refuelling stations at Exelby Services’ locations on the A1(M) and M6 motorways in the UK.

The stations, set to be built at the Coneygarth and Golden Fleece services, are planned to have one to 2.5 tonnes of daily retail capacity, operate 24/7, and be able to deliver 50 fills for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) each day.

Suitable for light commercial and passenger vehicles, as well as HGVs, the stations will be publicly accessible.

According to Element 2, sustainability is “at the heart” of the approved designs, adding that each site environment and local ecosystem benefit from the build, not just through reduced emissions by also material choices and low-energy manufacturing.
