Estonian solid oxide electrolyser (SOEC) firm Elcogen has partnered with AVL to develop megawatt-scale modules for larger volume green hydrogen production.
Under the collaboration, the pair will focus on scaling from small cell footprints to multi-megawatt modules, using multiple Elcogen single SOEC stacks in a module.
The companies say the developments will enable the “industrial scaling” of the solid oxide technology which is slated as the highest efficiency form of electrolysis when paired with external heat sources.
