Essar Energy Transition (EET) will develop a 125MW combined heat and power plant (CHP) capable of using hydrogen power.
Dubbed EET Hydrogen Power, the power plant is expected to be Europe’s first hydrogen-ready facility, located at the company’s Stanlow refinery in Ellesmere Port, the UK.
EET Hydrogen Power will be developed over two phases to reach its capacity, with 6,000 tonnes per day of steam and the hydrogen replacing hydrocarbons delivering an expected reduction of 740,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum. The plant has been designed to replace Stanlow’s boiler units that currently generate 50MW of operations.
