EDGE Navigation and Ulstein are evaluating the use of a modular hydrogen fuel cell solution to power a joint X-BOW container vessel concept design.
The potential use of hydrogen fuel cell solutions, which it is exploring with ABB and Ballard Power Systems, follows on from the duo’s recently announced collaboration which focused on fossil-free operations.
Commenting on the news, Jakob Tolstrup-Møller, Managing Director and CEO at EDGE Navigation, said, “Hydrogen is emerging as the energy carrier of choice across industries so we are happy to collaborate with ABB and Ballard Power Systems for developing a hydrogen fuel cell modular solution to the designs currently being developed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS.
