Romanian oil and gas producer OMV Petrom has signed financing agreements for 55MW worth of green hydrogen production projects at its Petrobrazi refinery.
Signed with the Romanian Ministry of Energy for a maximum value of €50m ($54m), the funding will be used to construct two green hydrogen production facilities to replace grey hydrogen use at the refinery which currently refines over 4.5 million tonnes of crude oil per year.
The two plants (35MW and 20MW respectively) will be built on site, with plans to use renewable energy to produce a combined 8,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
