Day one of the Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe 2023 saw thousands of attendees pass through the doors of Messe Bremen, with one prominent point up for discussion: demand.
Kicking off one of the event’s five session tracks, Stuart Broadley, CEO of the Energy Industries Council (EIC), tried to set the scene for the two-day expo, offering data insight into the market’s development.
Telling delegates that 2023 was on track to far exceed the number of announced energy projects in 2022, with over 2,000 already put forward, 54% of which were mature renewable projects, and 26% being the likes of hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS), floating offshore wind.
“This market is booming,” Broadley said. “We’ve never seen a market as busy as this. The amount of product opportunities out there is unprecedented.”
