For David Wenger, founder and CEO of Wenger Engineering, hydrogen has many challenges to overcome, with most of them relating to technology.
“It’s still too expensive and not reliable enough,” he says, pointing out for logistics or trains that reliability is everything.
Whilst he acknowledges a lot of progress has been made, he says hydrogen is still 100 years behind diesel, and it will take time.
But he has a simple solution to overcome all of the challenges: “We need the ‘Elon Musk of Hydrogen’. Someone who steps up and says ‘I will get the job done – whatever it takes’.”
