CWP Global, Hydrogenious LOHC to explore hydrogen exports from Morocco to Europe

CWP Global and Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies are set to explore the transport of 500 tonnes of hydrogen per day from Morocco to Europe.

Under a freshly inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the companies plans to conduct a joint feasibility study this year (2023) to explore the 500 tonne per day transport chain using Hydrogenious’ liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC) technology.

The LOHC technology enables hydrogen to be chemically bound to a thermal oil for safe storage and bulk shipping that will allow for existing liquid fuel infrastructure to be used.

According to the partners, CWP’s 15GW AMUN project in the Moroccan city of Tan Tan, focused on the production of ammonia from green hydrogen to decarbonise fertilisers and shipping, will be explored as the starting point in the feasibility study.
