German hydrogen mobility start-up Cryomotive and French industrial group Fives have partnered to jointly develop and validate a cryogenic pump for heavy-duty hydrogen refuelling stations.
Under a signed cooperation agreement, the companies will work to validate the pump for generating cryo-compressed hydrogen gas (CCH2), or CRYOGAS, which the companies say can reach densities of over 80kg/m3 at pressures between 30 and 40Mpa.
As CRYOGAS can be generated through cryogenic compression of liquid hydrogen, as well as cryo-cooling of compressed hydrogen gas, Cryomotive and Fives target to develop a reciprocating pump to compress liquid hydrogen at a high flow rate, low footprint, and low energy consumption.
