Costain to explore hydrogen refuelling station conversion in the south west

Costain has been selected by Wales & West Utilities (WWU) to lead an investigation into how hydrogen refuelling stations can be integrated into the UK’s existing gas network.

The research study, funded by Ofgem, will explore the potential of using the UK’s existing gas network for hydrogen fuelling infrastructure. Specifically, the study will consider infrastructure solutions that will increase the viability of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV).

Established as part of WWU’s initiative HyDrive, Costain researchers will consult key regional stakeholders to understand transport demands, and model and forecast future demands on the network. They will also identify potential locations where petrol stations can be converted.
