Energy storage company Corvus Energy will develop and produce sustainable, large-scale maritime-certified hydrogen fuel cell systems, with technology supplied by Toyota.
With €5.2m in funding, Corvus is spearheading a collaboration with Equinor, Norled and Willhelmsen, LMG Marin, the NCE Maritime CleanTech and University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) to develop and produce the PEM systems for the international marine market.
The consortium hopes to showcase its first marine fuel cell system onboard a vessel in 2023. It is hoped the product will then be marine certified and available for commercial delivery from 2024.
“Adding fuel cell modules to our product portfolio is a natural step for Corvus and advances our vision to be the leading supplier of zero emission marine solutions,” said Geir Bjørkeli, CEO of Corvus Energy.
