Cipher Neutron’s (CN) has reported a 94.36% efficiency of its anion exchange membrane (AEM) electrolyser stack as the Canadian firm targets significant green hydrogen cost reductions.
Tested under “industry standard analysis”, the AEM system required 41.754kWh to produce 1kg of hydrogen, compared to the 50kWh needed by existing electrolysers.
With less energy required, operating costs are decreased; advanced efficiency allows for lower maintenance costs and longer operational life; enhanced productivity means more hydrogen is produced per unit; and its scalability means it’s more feasible to scale-up large volume hydrogen production, the firm claims.
