Eneos Corporation has awarded Chiyoda Corporation an equipment, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a direct methylcyclohexane electrosynthesis (MCH) plant in Brisbane, Australia.
Built upon a previous demonstration, the project aims to identify obstacles for future implementation of the hydrogen carrier MCH. It has been equipped with a large-scale direct MCH electrolyser developed by the Japanese oil firm.
Construction of the green hydrogen facility is expected to begin this year, ahead of the first MCH production next year. Last December, Eneos announced plans for the AUD $200m ($129.9m) facility, which they anticipate to produce 680kg of hydrogen per day.
