Caterpillar has announced the launch of a three-year programme designed to demonstrate an advanced hydrogen-hybrid power solution.
Beginning in Q1 2024 and supported by the US Department of Energy (DOE), the solution will be built on the new 13-litre Cat® C13D engine platform, leveraging its performance, packaging and fuel flexibility.
Caterpillar will develop a transient-capable system for off-highway applications, serving as the prime contractor, providing engine research and development, and system integration. The project will be delivered at the company’s facilities in its US Chillicothe and San Antonio, Texas bases.
