Californian hydrogen truck project being driven forward by Michelin and partners

A new hydrogen-powered regional-haul Class 8 truck, set to match the performance of a 15-litre diesel truck, is currently under development in California as part of a state-supported hydrogen mobility project.

Symbio, Michelin, Faurecia, GTI, along with other industry partners, on Tuesday (April 12) said they had been selected by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to work on the zero-emissions solution that is set to hit the roads next year (2023).

Once operational, the truck is set to run for 12 months on a challenging 400-mile roue between the Inland Empire and Norther San Joaquin Valley, to ensure its capabilities match those needed for regional-haul trucking operations.
