Cadent misses out on UK Hydrogen Village trial

Cadent’s proposed plans for the UK’s Hydrogen Village trial in Whitby, Ellesmere Port, will not be taken forward by the government.

On Monday (July 10), Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, took to Twitter to say, “After listening to the views of residents, it’s clear that there is no strong local support, therefore Whitby will no longer be considered as the location for the UK’s first hydrogen village trial.”

In a statement, released today (July 11), Cadent confirmed it had been informed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero that its plans for Whitby was not “the preferred proposal for the Hydrogen Village trial.”
