The Canadian province of British Columbia is providing CAD$4m ($3m) of support for a project aimed at introducing the use of hydrogen and fuel cells in the shipping and transportation sector.
The BC Hydrogen Ports Project (BCH2 Ports Project) will see public and private sector collaboration to showcase “made-in-BC” technology to support the province’s decarbonisation goals.
Led by HTEC, the project will feature a high capacity hydrogen refuelling station to serve heavy-duty trucks at a Parkland Corporation site on Tsawwassen First Nation Land. Four fuel cell electric yard trucks and two Class 7 drayage trucks, leased to operators by HTEC, will also be used in the projects.
