Bramble advances to next phase of hydrogen-powered bus project

Bramble Energy’s hydrogen-powered double-deck bus project has completed concept designs for the hydrogen system and will now move into the manufacturing phase.

The £12.7m ($16m) Hydrogen Electric Integrated Drivetrain Initiative (HEIDI) project is expected to save around six million tonnes of CO2 using Bramble’s low-cost printed circuit board fuel cell (PCBFC) technology.

The concept design encompasses the fuel cell system and the hydrogen storage, with a flexible fuel cell design to allow a capacity of 86 passengers. In addition, the vehicle will boast a range of up to 280 miles on UK bus routes using 350 bar with similar refuelling times to traditions buses.
