Bradford hydrogen facility selected under HAR1 funding

The Bradford Low Carbon Hydrogen (BLCH) production facility has been awarded a contract as part of the UK Government’s £2bn ($2.5bn) first hydrogen allocation round (HAR1).

Set to be developed by Hygen and N-Gen, the project is expected to achieve the decarbonisation equivalent of removing 800 diesel-fuelled buses a day from west Yorkshire roads.

It will be built on Northern Gas Network’s (NGN) Birkshall gas storage site in Bradford. Businesses and other hydrogen users in the region will be able to use the refuelling facilities, with distribution company Ryze delivering the hydrogen to the facility.
