bp has completed the acquisition of travel centre operator TravelCenters of America (TA) as it looks to accelerate and integrate opportunities across the energy transition spectrum.
In a statement, bp said the 280-center acquisition, announced in February, brings growth opportunities for four of bp’s five transition growth engines including EV charging via bp pulse, convenience, biofuels/renewable natural gas (RNG) and, later, hydrogen.
Emma Delaney, Executive Vice President Customers & Products, bp, said: “By integrating bp pulse, our fast-growing EV charging business, along with biofuels and renewable natural gas businesses – and in time, hydrogen – we can help America’s vital fleets and logistics companies decarbonise.”
By 2030, bp – which is targeting Net Zero by 2050 ‘or sooner’ – aims for around half its annual investment to go into these ‘transition growth engines’ and wants to develop 50GW renewable generating capacity.
