bp and Aberdeen City Council have taken final investment decision (FID) to build a green hydrogen hub which is planned to start production in 2026.
The oil and gas major established a joint venture with the local council – bp Aberdeen Hydrogen Energy – to build the 300-tonne per year hydrogen hub to fuel vehicles operating in the city.
Expected to feature a hydrogen production, storage and distribution facility, a new solar farm will be installed to power the estimated 1.63MW of electrolysis for hydrogen production.
