Bosch Engineering and Ligier Automotive have presented a hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) high-performance sports car at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The modified Ligier JS2 R comes as part of project between the two companies to demonstrate the potential of alternatively fuelled propulsion systems in high-performance applications such as motorsport.
Equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 twin-turbo hydrogen engine with combined direct and indirect injection systems, and a carbon monocoque which integrates three Hexgaon Purus type IV hydrogen tanks at 700 bars the innovative car is said to provide an output of 420kW.
