The BMW iX5 Hydrogen will it will make its debut on the roads of Munich next month and will be used for demonstration and testing purposes next year.
Two years after unveiling the concept car, the vehicle manufacturing today (August 17) said the vehicle will be presented at the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich at which visitors will be able to experience the BMW iX5 Hydrogen experience.
At the event, the BMW iX5 Hydrogen will drive along the ‘blue lane’ connecting the main exhibition grounds with other exhibition venues in the city centre. After its debut here, it will the vehicle will then be used for texts at the end of next year.
Developed on the basis of the BMW X5, the BMW iX5 Hydrogen combines fuel cell technology with a fifth-generation BMW eDrive. Hydrogen needed to supply the fuel cell is stored in two 700-bar tanks made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, which together hold almost six kilograms of hydrogen.
