Blastr Green Steel (Blastr) and Inkoo Shipping have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for cooperating in land and harbour development in Inkoo, Finland.
Blastr will utilise Inkoo Shipping’s land area to improve the layout design of the planned ultra-low CO₂ steel plant in Inkoo. The companies will also jointly develop Inkoo Shipping’s harbor to enhance the handling of Blastr’s in- and outbound sea cargo.
Antti Kaikkonen, Managing Director of Blastr Green Steel Oy, said, “Our aim is to optimise the design of our planned ultra-low CO₂ steel plant and integrated hydrogen facility so that we can make the most of the industrial site already levelled, and thus reduce our environmental footprint. The use of the Inkoo Shipping area will allow us to do this, as well as streamline logistics within and outside the steel plant site.”
The port of Inkoo currently featurese a 900m quay. As part of the cooperation, the parties will develop a new quay with its size to be defined during the ongoing technical pre-feasibility study.
