Blackburn College has become the ‘first’ further education centre in England to provide hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) training to students.
The college unveiled its hydrogen-powered, fully interactive Toyota Mirai training rig, giving students and other members of the region’s automotive industry practical, hands-on experience to prepare them for the increase in demand for alternative vehicles.
The training solution is the latest addition to the college’s Hybrid Electric Automotive Training (HEAT) facility, which opened a year ago (2022), and it’s dedicated to developing and delivering training to bridge skill gaps for greener vehicle technologies such as hybrid, electric and now hydrogen.
