The Belgian Hydrogen Council (BHC) has called for the next government to “re-confirm and further reinforce” the country’s hydrogen ambitions ahead of the next general election in June 2024.
With the country’s federal hydrogen vision and strategy formally approved in November 2021, the incumbent Belgian government aimed to position Belgium as an import and transit hub of renewable molecules in Europe, while building up technology, collaboration and a hydrogen market.

While Belgians are set to take to the polls to choose regional, federal and European representatives on June 9, 2024, the BHC has taken the chance to stress the need for ambitious, firm hydrogen policy.
