Barcelona makes hydrogen commitment

Next year, the city of Barcelona will be home to a new hydrogen refuelling station and eight hydrogen-powered buses.

The news is a result of an agreement between the Consortium of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone (CZFB) and Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) to promote hydrogen throughout the city.

Pere Navarro, Special Delegate to the State of CZBF, and Rosa Alarcón, President of TMB, signed the agreement that includes to development of the hydrogen station on a 5,000 square meter site on an industrial estate.

There are currently no public hydrogen stations in Spain which the two companies believe is holding back to deployment of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, meaning the new station will be a pioneer in the country.
