Ballard Power Systems has received a purchase order worth $7.7m for its membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) from its joint venture located in China.
Guangdong Synergy Ballard Hydrogen Power Co. (Synergy-Ballard), a joint venture between Ballard and Guangdong Nation Synergy Hydrogen Power Technology, through which Ballard holds a 10% ownership interest in, placed the order as part of a long-term supply agreement and stack assembly licence agreement signed last year.
The order for the MEAs will be used to manufacturer FCvelocity®-9SSL fuel cell stacks that are used to power vehicles such as buses and trucks in China.
“Ballard’s leading fuel cell technology is currently powering over 650 fuel cell electric buses and more than 2,200 fuel cell trucks in China, representing key market share at this early stage of market development,” said Alfred Wong, Ballard Managing Director – Asia Pacific.
