UK infrastructure group Balfour Beatty will retrofit four vehicles with a hydrogen and diesel dual-fuel system with grant funding from the Scottish Government funding.
The project has received £240,000 ($297,800) from the government’s Emerging Energies Technology Fund to see two road gritters and two operations and maintenance vehicles retrofitted with the dual-fuel system.
Anticipated to deliver a 40% reduction in carbon emissions from each of the four vehicles, it is hoped the project will provide a blueprint for the conversion of all Balfour Beatty-owned fleet vehicles in the future.
