Baker Hughes earlier this month (August 8) revealed it had signed an agreement with airport management and operations firm Avport to develop, implement and operate onsite hydrogen microgrid solutions.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the pair aim to address emissions reduction in pursuit of the airport industry’s goals of focusing on zero-emission buildings, horizontal airport infrastructure, vehicles and aircraft system.
With Avport already focusing on sustainable initiatives at its managed airport locations, Baker Hughes boasts a portfolio of hydrogen technologies, including hydrogen-ready turbines and head recovery systems which it says is “ideal for microgrid application.”
