Spirits company Bacardi has completed the commercial production of a glass spirits bottles using a glass furnace fuelled with 60% hydrogen.
Working with glassmaker Hrastnik1860, Bacardi produced 150,000 of its ST GERMAIN® elderflower liqueur 70cl bottles using a blend of 60% hydrogen in the furnace’s fuel.
The company says the bottles produced were identical in appearance to the bottles produced using traditional methods, despite greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reportedly being cut by over 30%.
