Axpo and its local partner Rhiienergie have opened the “largest” green hydrogen production plant in Switzerland.
Located in the Domat/Ems at the Reichenau hydropower plant, the 2.5MW facility is expected to be capable of producing up to 350 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
The jointly owned plant uses electrolysis for hydrogen production, via green electricity from the adjacent hydroelectric power plant. The hydrogen is compressed at the plant to enable convenient delivery to refuelling stations and industrial customers.
