Australia: ARENA supports three major renewable hydrogen projects with $100m

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has today (5th May) approved over A$100m ($77.2m) to develop three commercial-scale renewable hydrogen projects – and they are thought to be among the largest in the world.

Part of ARENA’s Renewable Hydrogen Development Funding Round, the capital will see Engie Renewable Australia, ATCO Australia and Australian Gas Networks all lead groundbreaking projects that will each feature a 10MW electrolyser.

Sharing details of its proposed project, Engie said it will develop a 10MW electrolyser project to produce renewable hydrogen in Karratha, Western Australia. To do this, the multinational utilities company has formed an alliance with Yara Pilbara Fertilisers.
